Legacy and Planned Giving
Legacy gifts create lasting impact and help ensure that TNSTEP can continue empowering families and youth with disabilities across Tennessee for generations to come.
There are many meaningful ways to make a legacy gift. You may choose to include TNSTEP in your will or living trust, name TNSTEP as a beneficiary of your IRA, life insurance policy, or investment account, or make a gift of stock or appreciated securities. You can also support our long-term sustainability through an endowment or other planned giving options.
These thoughtful gifts provide a foundation of support for TNSTEP’s programs, advocacy efforts, and statewide services, ensuring families continue to have access to trusted information, training, and resources for years to come.

Give Through Your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, making a charitable gift directly from your IRA—also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)—is a simple and tax-smart way to support TNSTEP. These gifts may count toward your required minimum distribution and can help reduce taxable income, while directly supporting families and youth with disabilities across Tennessee.
TNSTEP can provide a sample letter to share with your IRA administrator upon request.
Give Through Your Will
By including TNSTEP in your will, living trust, or insurance policy, you can leave a legacy that ensures families continue to have access to the tools and support they need to advocate for their children and plan for the future.
Here is example language you may use when making a bequest:
“I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise, and bequeath to TNSTEP [written amount or percentage of my estate] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”
If you have included TNSTEP in your estate plans, we would be honored to know so we can properly acknowledge your generosity. We recommend consulting your attorney or financial advisor when making these decisions.
Memorial Gifts
Honor friends, family members, or colleagues in a meaningful way with a tribute or memorial gift to TNSTEP. Your gift supports our programs and services that empower families and youth with disabilities across Tennessee. Many supporters choose to designate TNSTEP as the recipient of memorial contributions in lieu of flowers.
Each tribute gift helps ensure that families continue to receive trusted guidance, advocacy, and resources when they need them most.
TNSTEP will send a personalized acknowledgement to the honoree or the honoree’s family, notifying them of your thoughtful gift while keeping the donation amount confidential.
How to Make a Memorial Gift
You may give securely online or send your donation by mail. During the donation process, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Share the name of the individual being honored or remembered
- Indicate who should receive the acknowledgment of your gift
Your generosity allows a legacy of care, empowerment, and opportunity to continue in honor of someone special.
