Serving Students with Disabilities in Non-Public Schools Webinar 3/5/2024

This presentation addresses the obligation of local education agencies to serve students with disabilities in non-public schools, including the requirement to set aside a proportionate share of federal funding, the requirement to engage in the consultative process with representatives of students enrolled in non-public schools, and the requirement to develop and serve students through an individualized service plan. This webinar was Part 2 of the IEA Program series.

Presenter:

Taylor Jenkins is the Assistant General Counsel for Special Education at the Tennessee Department of Education. In that role, Taylor oversees the special education dispute resolution options and provides guidance to the Department’s special education program teams. Before joining the Department, Taylor worked in the Education & Employment Division of the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, representing public education agencies in federal and state court, including the Tennessee Department of Education and Tennessee State Board of Education. Taylor graduated from Duke University in 2012 and Vanderbilt University Law School in 2015.
