March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. TNSTEP proudly recognizes and supports ALL learners, including children and youth with developmental disabilities.
Each year, this month serves as an important reminder to promote awareness, inclusion, and the meaningful participation of people with developmental disabilities in every aspect of community life. Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to their communities.
In 1987, President Ronald Reagan officially recognized March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to increase “public awareness of the needs and the potential of Americans with developmental disabilities” and to provide the “encouragement and opportunities they need to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential.”
Together, we can continue building communities where every individual is valued, included, and empowered to succeed.
