SUTP Youth Program at a Glance

Youth Leaders With Disabilities Program, building confidence, skills, & connections to live their best lives after high school. Youth are mentored by TNSTEP professionals who have personal experience with disabilities. STEP Up To The Plate (SUTP) officially launched in 2022. Young people between the ages of 16-24, who represent every region of the state and have different types of disabilities, are invited to participate in this program.

This “Program at a Glance” resource provides an overview of the SUTP program and the services, supports, and opportunities it offers to students, families, and professionals. It highlights key program goals, areas of focus, and available training or support designed to help individuals with disabilities prepare for successful transitions in education, employment, and independent living.

The guide is intended to give families and community partners a quick and easy understanding of how the program works and who it serves. By summarizing important information in a clear format, the resource helps students and families learn about available supports, participation opportunities, and ways the program encourages personal growth, self-advocacy, and future success.
