COMMITTEES: Finance, Fundraising
Rhonda Roberts joined the TNSTEP Board of Directors in 2025, after serving as an ex-officio member in 2024. She was first introduced to TNSTEP more than 25 years ago while seeking support for her son, Zakery, who was experiencing academic and social challenges. After attending her first parent training, Rhonda found a community that embraced and supported her—an experience that continues to shape her connection to TNSTEP today.
Rhonda is the proud mother of her adult son, Zakery, who was initially identified with a speech delay and later diagnosed with autism. With guidance from TNSTEP, Rhonda successfully navigated the special education system, leading to appropriate supports and services that helped Zakery graduate with a regular diploma. She continues to draw on that experience to support other families.
Rhonda is also a retired Registered Nurse with more than 40 years of experience in direct care. She holds certifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing across the lifespan from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and as a Certified Nurse Case Manager. Her career has included supporting children, adolescents, and families with complex medical, behavioral, and educational needs.
She serves on TNSTEP’s fundraising and financial committees and is passionate about giving back to the organization that supported her family’s journey.
Rhonda shares this advice with families: Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Our children don’t come with instructions, and TNSTEP is here to guide you, support you, and help you find your path forward.
